Programs

The Allensworth Progressive Association (APA) takes on projects that reflect the town’s legacy of self-determination and its present-day fight for environmental and health equity. Guided by community input and grounded in lived experience, APA focuses on addressing the long-standing issues that rural communities of color like Allensworth face including water access, environmental contamination, and underinvestment in public health. APA approaches this work through grassroots organizing, cross-sector collaboration, and leadership development rooted in shared power and accountability.

Our project catalog is a living collection that reflects our expanding body of work. It includes project summaries and hyperlinks to relevant downloadable material.

Community Development & Culture

APA is set to advance its vision of community-led change, grounded in both strengthened infrastructure and the growth of local leadership across generations. This reflects a commitment to resilience, cultural stewardship, and community-driven preparedness that centers local knowledge, care, and long-term sustainability

Education

We support community-led change by investing in education and growing local leadership across generations. Our approach strengthens resilience, honors cultural knowledge, and prepares communities through collective learning and care.

Resource Sovereignty

Sovereignty has been central to our identity since our founding as a self-governed community. Today, it continues to guide how we strengthen local authority, stewardship, and decision-making.
